Global Citizens are caring and compassionate people, playing their own unique role in a just society. Our engaging poster set was designed to inspire young people to think about their place in the world and their neighbours across the globe.

Aspire not to have more
Aspire not to have more, but to be more - Archbishop Oscar Romero
Oscar Romero was an outspoken defender of the poor in El Salvador and was assassinated while saying mass in San Salvador in 1980. His life and teachings have had a big impact on people all around the world, and SCIAF has taken great inspiration and motivation in our work from the example he set.
In our modern world, advertising tells us that it’s important to have the newest, most up-to-date, and most expensive items – phones, mp3 players, clothes etc. Oscar Romero reminded us that actually the most important thing is how we live our lives - what we do to help others, how we treat others, how we behave, what we value.
We all have the power
Ever felt like you’re only one person and there is nothing you can do to change any of the big problems in our world today?
Well actually we all have lots of power, whether you’re 15 or 50 years old. Every time you step into a shop to buy some food or clothes – you have power. Every time you talk to someone else about something you care about – you have power. Every time you raise money for SCIAF – you have power. The important thing is that we use our power to change things and make the world fairer for the people who have little or no power.
Your neighbours don’t just live across the street
In Luke 10 verses 25 – 37 Jesus told the Parable of the Good Samaritan in response to the question, ‘Who is my neighbour?’ In the story Jesus shows that a ‘neighbour’ is not just a person close by, but is actually anyone, anywhere in need of help. SCIAF’s work has always been about reaching out to the poorest and most vulnerable of our global neighbours.
Be the change
The change you want to see in the world begins with you. Lead by example. The smallest change to your life can have a massive impact on those around you and your global neighbours.
