· SCIAF was set up in a Rutherglen classroom in 1965 with funds of just £8,000.
· Since then we have grown to become Scotland’s leading international aid and development agency.
· We work with local partners in 16 countries across Africa, Asia and Latin America.
· In 2008, our work changed the lives of over 4 million people around the world.
· SCIAF helps people of all faiths and none to campaign against injustice and free themselves from poverty – for good.
· Schools donate about £250,000 to our work every year!
· And we visit over 200 schools across Scotland each year – speaking directly to over 300,00 young people.
· We have an office in Juba, Southern Sudan and share an office with our sister agencies CAFOD (England & Wales) and Trocaire (Ireland) in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.
· Thousands of people across Scotland, including The Proclaimers, Miss Scotland and Ally McCoist, supported SCIAF’s WEE BOX, BIG Change Lent campaign in 2009 and helped raised over £900,000.
