With the amazing help of supporters, SCIAF has grown to be Scotland’s leading international aid and development agency.
SCIAF has the equivalent of just under 40 full time staff and an income in 2007 of £5.9 million. We are also supported by an extensive network of volunteers across Scotland whose help is vital to SCIAF’s work. We now support over 80 life-changing projects in 20 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. In 2008, SCIAF’s work touched the lives of over 4 million people living in desperate need.
In addition to our main office in Glasgow, SCIAF now has offices in Juba, Sudan, and Addis Ababa in Ethiopia. These offices allow us to provide more support to local partner organisations in these countries.
We are also part of Caritas Internationalis which is an international network of Catholic relief and development agencies. This is a huge network which operates in 200 countries. Being a part of this network means that SCIAF can respond to disasters around the globe. SCIAF wants to end global poverty once and for all.
Through our education and campaigning work we now use multi-media resources and new technologies to reach out to people across Scotland. Our aim is to help the Scottish public understand more about the causes of poverty and to encourage them to get involved in our campaigns to tackle climate change and other major issues.
Some things haven’t changed – our WEE BOXES can still be found in many thousands of homes, schools and places of work and worship across Scotland and they are still helping to change the lives of people around the world.
