Giving birth in a poor country can be very dangerous and many women and babies die each year due to lack of support and medicines. Having a trained person, or midwife, in the local area can save many lives. Through our work with COMUS, SCIAF has helped to train midwives so they are able to provide a high-quality service to their communities. Eleanor attended a two week course run by COMUS and has now assisted in more than 300 births in her home town alone.
