Fairtrade Dragon's Den

The Dragon’s Den is no place for the timid – as a number of brave Glasgow schools found out in November 2007. They brought their inspiring Fairtrade business ideas to be tested before the panel of dragons which included Douglas Alexander MP [the Government Minister for International Development]. The event was hosted by George Alagiah, BBC Newsreader and Patron of the Fairtrade Foundation with Stewarton Academy giving the opening address. St Margaret Mary’s Secondary scooped the top prize with their idea of running a Fairtrade Café. Holyrood Secondary came second with their ethical webguide. Also taking part were Hyndland Secondary, Lourdes Secondary and Hillhead High. Photo credit: Glasgow City Council.
