Tommy Burns remembered

SCIAF has greeted the news of the death of Tommy Burns, former Celtic football player and manager, with great sadness. Tommy was the first high-profile person to front SCIAF’s annual 24-Hour Sponsored FAST and was instrumental to the success of this popular fundraising campaign. Tommy fronted the 24-hour FAST in 2000, then again with Ally McCoist [former player with Glasgow Rangers Football Club] the following year. The campaign was a huge success and helped SCIAF win the ICFM Marketing Award in 2001. He was a great supporter of SCIAF and went above and beyond the call of duty to support our work - visiting many schools personally to collect the donations that they had raised. This was a mark of the genuine and generous person he was - nothing was too much trouble. May he rest in peace. Photo credit: 'Paul McSherry/SCIAF'.
