Fairtrade Conference

Pupils from 40 schools across Scotland gathered together in Glasgow for the Fairtrade Schools Conference in June 2008. Schools have an important role to play in helping Scotland become a Fair Trade Nation and at the conference students learned above all the different ways they could help make this happen.

The highlight of the event was when pupils got the chance to meet Stephen and Jocelyn from the Kuapa Kokoo Co-operative in Ghana. Kuapa Kokoo produces a lot of the Fairtrade chocolate and the extra money the farmers have received has helped to build a well and equip the school in the village where Jocelyn and Stephen live.
