i know what you are trying to do is good and that but.. the realitys different. Yeah, they give the starving children their food but they also force them into religion to get it. which when you think about it isnt very fair.
Reply from SCIAF: Thanks for your question! SCIAF is a Catholic aid agency but we give help to the poorest people from all religious backgrounds and none. We never force people into a religion and we never place conditions on the support we give to people. We help people because we care and because we believe that every person has the right to live life to the full and has the right to live in dignity. Our faith teaches us that we should treat people in need like our very own brothers and sisters. That's why we do what we do.

Hellooooooooooooooooooooo SCIAF! Can i just ask what is SCIAFs ultimate aim? You are doing good work but will it make a difference? You are also showing misleading images of countries like Zambia. Where are the shopping malls in your pictures? Also because the Catholic church holds a lot of power in Africa, many people have died of AIDS that would not have. Just consider that your belifs are killing people. the site administrater will probably not post this but please consider what i have asked
Reply from SCIAF: Thanks for raising those points Joolz! SCIAF's aim is to end global poverty and allow everyone to live life to the full. We know we're making a difference because we visit our projects regularly and see the changes with our own eyes. We've seen the lives of so many people and their communities changed for the better because of the support people in Scotland have given to SCIAF. About Zambia - our stories pages at http://www.sciafyouth.org.uk/youth/stories feature the lives of Constance and Nyambe who both live in a remote rural [countryside] area of Zambia. These images aren't misleading but you're right to say they don't show what life in the urban [city] areas of Zambia is like. However, we have included some shots of urban life in Cambodia in this section to get a balance. If you've used some of SCIAF's education packs in your school you'll know we always work hard to get a balance between urban and rural images so we give an accurate picture of life in those countries. About your AIDS question - I'm glad you raised this point. Over 44 million people are infected with HIV/AIDS and it's one of the biggest issues of our times and SCIAF and the Catholic Church take this issue very seriously indeed.
The Catholic Church is one of the biggest provider of services to people living with HIV/AIDS including medical care, support for widows and orphans, income generation and education. SCIAF supports many projects which educate people about the causes of HIV/AIDS, how it is transmitted and how they can avoid infection - this has saved many thousands of lives.

right now i'm doing a school thing for S.C.I.A.F and am looking for what different amounts of money can buy like.eg. £5, £10
i haven't yet found anything on your site and would like to suggest it for a page. I have seen some flyers with that on it like. eg five pound can buy a school kit.
thanks.
Reply from SCIAF: Thanks Robyn for your great suggestion. Try visiting http://www.sciafyouth.org.uk/youth/raising_money/real_gift_posters for this information. We love your suggestion though and by the summer we hope to create an even better page with all the information you've asked for.

I think that we should all do our bit to fundraise for SCIAF. Some of the fundrasiers are great ways to do this. Another way to fundraise is to make a square metre badge of the school badge out of coins then donate the money to SCIAF. This creates lots of money and something spectacular. Hope this inspires someone!

i just want to say that these stories are really upseting and it angers me so much because we have gave millions to the government, yet we are not seeing much difference. i really wont to help these people but it is so hard for me because im only 14. im not trying to use this as an excuse. i think that it is time everyone too take stand no matter what age we are. we could really make a differance to these peoples lifes and give them the chance they deserve.after all there just like us. and see the next time you go to waste food, think of all these starving people, who are diying for food and then maby think 2. :-)

SCIAF staff regularly visit our overseas projects in person to make sure your money is being used well. We're 100% confident your money goes to the poorest people, and is making a difference, because we've seen it with our own eyes. Hope you are too!
