June 2007
Throughout the year, the pupils of St. Augustine’s Primary School, Milton, take the time to think about, pray for and raise money for children who are less fortunate than themselves. During Lent, a special time for prayer and reflection, they did exactly this by raising a fantastic £760.99 for SCIAF. They've recently added to this by raising a further £368.
They raised the money by holding several ‘No Tuck Days’. Here, the children made the sacrifice of not eating sweets or crisps at playtime. They paid 50p and were provided with a digestive biscuit and diluted juice. The other ways that the children collected money was by having a Cake and Candy Sale and by organising a Sponsored Silence.
A representative from SCIAF visited the school and showed the children a PowerPoint presentation which allowed them to see for themselves exactly how their money will be spent. The Pupil Council presented the SCIAF representative with a cheque that will benefit children in the poorest countries of the world.
A BIG THANK YOU goes to the children, parents and staff of St. Augustine’s who through hard work, determination, sacrifice and prayer continue to help and support a charity which is close to their hearts.
