December 2006
St Brendan's Primary in Motherwell was the first school in Scotland to gain the Fairtrade Schools Award through SCIAF. Now they've got the Fairtrade habit they want everyone else to get it too.
The school organised an educational conference for 10 schools in the local area to raise awareness about Fairtrade and to encourage them to go for the award. As well as showing educational videos, the pupils from St Brendan's organised a wonderful Fairtrade buffet. Pupils from visiting schools also got a chance to add their self-portrait to a banner made from Fairtrade cotton.
Well done to everyone at St Brendan's Primary school for leading the way and for showing great commitment to Fairtrade issues.
