You probably know a lot more about Haiti now, than you did before the 12th January 2010. You may know that even before last year’s terrible earthquake, Haiti was one of the poorest countries in the world. You may know that over 230,000 lives were lost and 1.5 million people made homeless following the 37 second-long earthquake.
You might have read about how extreme poverty affects the vast majority of Haitians; how thousands of people are now affected by cholera; how violence and death followed the elections in November last year; and how the struggle to rebuild Haiti is not happening fast enough for a population which has already suffered so much.
Although you might know a lot about Haiti already, we wanted to use our WEE BOX, BIG Change Lent campaign this year to tell you more about SCIAF’s story in Haiti – not just about our emergency work since the earthquake, but also about our long-term development work in this challenging country.
Thank you for the generous and continued support you give to SCIAF.
