Jenneth's Story

Jenneth [pronounced Janet] lives in northern Uganda – a region affected by brutal conflict for the last 20 years. She was only 14 years old when she was abducted by the Lord’s Resistance Army while on her way to school. Like many others, she was forced to become a child soldier in a war that has displaced over 1 million people and claimed over one hundred thousand lives.

It was 5 years before she found an opportunity to escape. She is now being looked after by a SCIAF-funded project which is providing her with tailoring training. Her children Wulter [Walter] and Gurfre [Godfrey] are being provided with daycare while she receives training. Over 400 women are being helped in the same way.

Thanks to the generosity of SCIAF supporters, Jenneth and her family are now on the edge of a happier future.
