Thousands of women, children and young babies are facing a food crisis in the coming months in south and western Ethiopia. Failed crops and high food prices have left up to 4.5 million in need of emergency food aid and 75,000 children severely malnourished.
SCIAF is already supplying aid to help those suffering. Through our office in the capital city, Addis Ababa, we’re contributing to the £618,000 worth of aid being donated by Catholic aid agencies operating in Ethiopia.
This money is being used to help build special feeding centres to get emergency food aid to malnourished children and mothers of new-born babies. Food, medicines, water, and sanitation facilities are desperately needed.
