It’s official – Cadbury’s Dairy Milk is now Fairtrade!
That means you can enjoy the UK’s favourite chocolate bar knowing that farmers in Africa are getting a better deal.
Great news for chocolate lovers here in Scotland but even better news for Fairtrade cocoa farmers in Ghana. They had been selling only a small amount of cocoa but that is all set to change.
Cadbury’s need so much cocoa to produce the UK’s favourite chocolate bar that Fairtrade cocoa sales in Ghana have increased from 5,000 to 15,000 tonnes a year!
The Fairtrade Foundation is hoping Cadbury will switch other products to fair trade too. Fairtrade and Cadbury’s partners in Ghana are working to sign up farmers in another 100 villages to the deal so that they, too, can benefit. They are also looking at sourcing Fairtrade sugar for use in their products.
Don’t forget that there are lots of other Fairtrade chocolate bars out there including Divine, Dubble and Co-op chocolate!
