SCIAF was one of four charities to receive an early Christmas present when a painting by famous Scottish artist John Bellany went under the hammer at an Edinburgh Auction house.

‘The Homecoming’ – which featured on First Minister Alex Salmond’s Christmas cards last year – sold for £10,000.

This money will be split equally between SCIAF, the Aberdeen Cyrenians, Islamic Relief and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.

SCIAF's Chief Executive Paul Chitnis said: “We are grateful to the First Minister for choosing SCIAF as one of the charities to benefit from the sale of this painting. The money raised will help us continue our work with some of the poorest people in the world.”
