Jenneth's Story

Jenneth [pronounced Janet] lives in northern Uganda and is the face of SCIAF's WEE BOX, BIG CHANGE campaign. You'll see her picture on the SCIAF box and all our posters and bookmarks this year.

Northern Uganda has been at war for the last 20 years. Jenneth got caught up in the war even although she didn't want to. She was on her way to school when she was 14 years old when a group of rebel soldiers caught her. They forced her to leave her village and become a child soldier. She eventually escaped and is now being helped by a SCIAF-funded project.

Jenneth is now 21 and is learning tailoring skills so she can make and sell clothes for a living. Thanks to SCIAF supporters, her two children, Wultur and Gurfre [Walter and Godfrey], are attending nursery while their mum gets trained. Their family are now on the edge of a happier future.

Thanks to your support, SCIAF is helping over 400 women like Jenneth. They are now able to build better futures for themselves and their families.
